Matching the tree to your space and your cat
The right size really depends on your room and how active your cat is. Compact towers around 42cm tuck into a corner and work well for kittens or older, less mobile cats. If you've got a busy cat that likes to climb, a taller multi-level tree with several perches gives them somewhere to burn off energy and survey the room from up high. For small homes where floor space is tight, the floor-to-ceiling designs make use of the height rather than the footprint, and the included anti-slip kit keeps them firmly in place.
Why sisal matters
Most of the posts here are wrapped in sisal rope, and that's no accident. Cats tend to favour the rough texture of sisal over carpet or smooth surfaces, which makes them much more likely to scratch the tree and leave your furniture alone. A sturdy post that doesn't wobble also encourages proper stretching and scratching, which is good for their claws and muscles.
More than just climbing
Plenty of these trees double up as a cosy retreat, with enclosed condo houses, soft hammocks and plush perches for napping. A few designs go further, like the cactus-shaped scratcher for a bit of fun, or the indoor tree that hides a litter box neatly inside.
