Flat Panel or Oval Design
Flat panel mirror radiators have straight edges and a rectangular mirror in the middle. Clean, simple design that suits modern homes. They stick out 60-80mm from the wall, good for narrow hallways.
Oval designs have curved panels around the mirror. The rounded shape looks softer and works well if your room has other curved features. Both types heat the same - it's just about which type of radiator shape that you would prefer.
Sizes and Colours
Most are 1800mm tall, which gives you a decent mirror at eye level and enough panel area for heating. Widths run from 380mm to 565mm - narrower for tight spots, wider if you need more heat output. White blends in anywhere. Black makes a statement in contemporary spaces. Anthracite grey sits between the two. Whichever you pick, the radiator panels frame the mirror section.
Installation
Connects to your central heating like any other radiator using 15mm pipes. Bottom or side connections depending on the model. Any plumber can fit them - there's nothing complicated about the installation. Make sure your wall can take the weight. These are heavy units, especially when full of water. Use proper wall fixings, not just plasterboard plugs.
The mirror needs to be at a comfortable height. Around 1400-1500mm from floor to centre of mirror works for most people.
Where to Put Them
Hallways are the obvious choice. Everyone checks themselves before going out, and most hallways don't have room for a radiator and a separate mirror. Bedrooms work too, especially smaller ones where a floor mirror would eat up space. Living rooms if you want something a bit different as a feature. Don't use them in bathrooms. The mirror section isn't built for constant moisture and steam. Stick with proper bathroom towel radiators instead.
Looking After It
Wipe the mirror with glass cleaner when it needs it. The radiator panels just need a quick dust now and then. Bleed it once a year like you would any radiator. That's about it.
