Different Names, Same Thing
You'll see 2 seater sofas called loveseats as well. It's the same furniture – loveseat is just the American term that's caught on here. Some manufacturers also call them settees, though that's becoming less common. Whatever the name, you're looking at a sofa that seats two people comfortably.
Sofa Beds Add Flexibility
Quite a few 2 seater sofas convert into beds, which is handy if you occasionally have guests staying but don't want a spare room permanently set up. Click-clack mechanisms fold flat easily, whilst pull-out versions have a mattress that slides out from underneath. The sleeping space isn't huge – fine for one adult or two kids - but it solves the overnight guest problem without needing dedicated furniture.
Sofa beds are heavier and bulkier than standard sofas because of the mechanism, so bear that in mind if you're planning to rearrange furniture regularly.
Sofa Storage Options
Some 2 seater sofas include storage compartments under the seat. Lift the cushions and there's space for throws, cushions, or general living room clutter. This matters particularly in smaller homes where every bit of storage counts. The storage versions typically cost a bit more but the extra function justifies it if space is tight.
Styling and Materials
Our sofa collection includes modern designs with clean lines and wooden legs, more traditional styles with nailhead trim, and contemporary pieces with metal frames. Fabric upholstery comes in various colours and textures, whilst faux leather options are easier to wipe clean. Side pockets on some models give you somewhere for remotes or magazines without them sliding down the back of the sofa.
